My family has made this campground a tradition every year. We camp, swim fish and have a great time here.
Nice and friendly place. Our fire wood was to wet to start, so we went to the main house to ask about directions to the store. The owner instead gave us fire starter to help. The swimming area felt great in the afternoon to cool off then go rest in the woods at our private campsite.
I have been camping here every year since I was 4. I absolutely love it here. Lester (the owner) can be a grump at times tho. The lake has ALWAYS been far cleaner than any state park I have ever been to. Some of the roads have washed out due to the excessive rain we have had. As for the showers they are not the worlds greatest but you are at a campground not a hotel and they are cleaner than most state camp ground facilities that I have been to. The shower chains are a bit annoying tho. As for quiet time during the 4th of july if you expect to go to bed by 10:00 pm then I suggest ear plugs because the fireworks arent usually over before 12:00 am. Even with some of the negatives I would not trade the forest for the world. That includes its grumpy old owner.
We were just here this week. The grounds were well kept, and pretty looking across at the lake. The showers were awful! no hot water and had to hold the water switch to turn the water on while trying to shower and rinse. There were no bathrooms only the 1 at the lake, there were porta potty's, they were NASTY!!!! Had not been cleaned out in a while!!!!! Would NOT stay here again!
It's a fun place to take a family for a day of swimming.
